3D Printing And Mainstream TV – The Good Wife Takes On The Legal Issues of 3D Printing

by Bill Decker

I admit it. I watch The Good Wife. But this last episode was about my industry- 3D Printing. In the episode a designer puts an open source CAD drawing of a plastic gun on line. The file is downloaded, the gun goes off, their is an accident and a lawsuit.

It brings up something we have been discussing for several years- the field of 3D Printing Law and how 3D Printing will be governed. Last Sunday’s episode deals with tough issues such as cost of manufacturing, liability on open source products, who is the manufacturer and who is the designer? Watch the 3D Printing law firms come to rise!
